The Town of Penetanguishene (meaning "the place of the rolling white sands" in Abinaki) is a picturesque bilingual community at the southern tip of peaceful and beautiful Georgian Bay. Penetanguishene has a unique urban form oriented towards the water with rolling hills, woodlands, wetlands and picturesque views.
Incorporated on February 22, 1882, this thriving bilingual community has grown to approximately 10,000 residents offering a unique combination of lifestyle and business opportunities.

September 16 Coffee Break 2010 Mayor and Council invite the residents and visitors to attend a Coffee Break in support of the Alzheimer Society at Townhall from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. September 25 Settler's Day Join the fun from 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m at the Penetanguishene Centennial Musuem and Archives. Activities include a display on baptismal, wedding and funeral gowns, rug hooking display and interactive table, exhibit about Father Laboreau, bbq, “guess the artifact” table, and a fiddle jam session on the museum grounds September 25 Franco Ontarian Day
Display your Franco Ontarian pride by wearing green and white and come and join the fun at the Maple Valley Club in Lafontaine from 10:00a.m. - 3:00p.m! Activities will include children’s games/crafts, information kiosks, local artist (Michel Paiement, le Chœur de La Clé d’la Baie, Jean Arcand and friends) and more for the whole family.
